All-Star Weekend a Humbling Experience for Subban

Under different circumstances, P.K. Subban's signature smile wouldn't light up the entire room.
But even after he and the Central Division All-Stars fell 10-3 to the Pacific Division during the first game of Sunday afternoon's 3-on-3 NHL All-Star Game in Los Angeles, the Predators defenseman wanted to do nothing more than enjoy the conclusion of what has been a spectacular weekend for No. 76.
"It's just to have fun, so if you don't enjoy it then what are you here for?" Subban quipped. "You have to enjoy it. It's a privilege to be an All-Star… so regardless of what happens, you score 10 goals, you don't score any, you're -15, and you just take it and go."

Subban did score one of his own for the Central, one of the prettier goals of the 13 registered in the 20-minute game, taking the puck down the left side around Ryan Kesler and flipping a shot past Martin Jones.

"It's always nice to score, but I just try to go out there and have as much fun as I can," Subban said. "That's what it's for: 82 games are for us to get stressed out and be on pins and needles, but today was about having fun."
Subban did just that throughout the entire weekend - from showing off his signature style to sharing the ice with the greatest hockey players in the world, past and present - Subban showed why he's one of the NHL's most beloved players.
A highlight for the Central Division Captain came before the opening puck drop, when the current All-Stars were joined by a contingent of the NHL's 100 Greatest Players, including Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Mark Messier, Bobby Orr, Jaromir Jagr - quite simply, hockey royalty.

"To be on the same ice surface as those guys, it's pretty amazing," Subban said. "Looking across at them, looking at the nhl now and what it is, a billion-dollar business and it was built on the backs of all those guys that we see out there today, so it was pretty amazing to be on the same ice surface as them."
From here, Subban will rejoin his teammates in Pittsburgh as the regular season resumes and the Predators prepare for the Penguins on Tuesday night, something already on the blueliner's mind.
"I think we're just starting to turn the page here," Subban said of the Preds. "We've had some adversity this year… and we fought through it. We stayed afloat and we're getting guys back and we're gelling now and we're chipping away… We're moving in the right direction, we've just got to continue to build off of that."

Just as quickly as the top players in the game came together for a star-studded 48 hours, the time came to go back to their respective spots of the continent to push toward the postseason. And in his first All-Star Game representing Nashville, Subban shone just as bright as the lights of Broadway.
"It was awesome," Subban said of the weekend. "First of all, it's an honor to represent the Nashville Predators. Being my first year in Nashville, it means a lot that the fans that supported me enough and believed in me enough. And L.A. is a great city and great host, and I think the fans really enjoyed it."
