All 9 Preds Advance at World Championships

by Jay Levin / Nashville Predators
All nine of the Preds players/prospects participating in this year's World Championships Tournament (May 7-22, Germany) advanced in to the Qualification Round.

Switzerland, with Preds prospect Roman Josi, has been the biggest surprise through the Preliminary Round, winning Pool B, including a 4-1 upset of Canada in the final game of Preliminary Round play. Josi picked up a key assist in the Canada game and has one goal, two assists, and +2 plus/minus rating through the first three games of the tournament. His three points were tied for the most among tournament defensemen through the Preliminary Round.

The three Preds on Team Germany all played prominent roles in the Germans win over Denmark on Wednesday. Marcel Goc (Germany's team captain) scored the game-tying goal late in the first period, assisted by Alexander Sulzer. Sulzer (20:38 ice time) and Robert Dietrich (22:11 ice time) paced the German squad in time on ice for the game.

Jonas Andersson (Sweden) netted one goal during the Preliminary Round, while Denis Grebeshkov (Russia) scored one goal for Russia during his first three games played in the tournament.
