Toronto, ON - Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec played well, stopping 22 of 23 shots, but the team couldn't provide him any offense as the Ads were eliminated from the Calder Cup Playoffs with a 2-0 loss to the Toronto Marlies.
The win gave the Marlies a three-game sweep of the Admirals in the Western Conference Quarterfinals and marked the third straight season the Ads were ousted in the first round.
Neither team was able to find the back in the net during the first period. The Ads outshot the Marlies 10-8 even thought it was Toronto who had a pair of power-play opportunities.
The Admirals had two power-play chances of their own to start the second period, but, just like Toronto, couldn't convert.
However with just 2:29 left in the second period Toronto broke the scoreless tie with a power-play marker from Greg McKegg, who finished a tic-tac-toe play from the bottom of the right circle.
The Ads couldn't muster much in third period and TJ Brennen sealed it for the Marlies with an empty netter with only 24.1 seconds to play.
Milwaukee doesn't return to the BMO Harris Bradley Center ice until their home opener for the 2014-15 season, which is set for October 10. The complete AHL schedule will be released this summer.
