Admirals Announce 2009-10 Slate

by Staff Writer / Nashville Predators
Milwaukee, WI - Milwaukee Admirals President Jon Greenberg announced today that the team will open their 2009-10 season on Saturday, October 3rd at 7:00 pm in Chicago against the Wolves. After six road games, the Ads will embark on the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 24th at 7:30 pm against the Manitoba Moose at the Bradley Center. This season’s home opener is the latest in franchise history.

The Admirals will play an 80-game, unbalanced schedule that will conclude over six months later when the team hosts the Grand Rapids Griffins on Sunday, April 11th.

“The 2009-10 season promises to be another exciting year for us, both on and off the ice,” noted Greenberg, who begins his fifth season as the Ads President. “With all of the fun and entertaining promotions off the ice and an excellent team on the ice, we will continue to provide our fans with a fantastic experience when they visit the Bradley Center.”

At the home opener, all fans in attendance will receive a schedule magnet of the 2009-10 season, courtesy of Old Orchard Juice. The team’s popular FM106 Country Music night and the rest of the promotional schedule will be released at a future date.

The Admirals will do battle with two new teams during the upcoming campaign: the Texas Stars and the Abbotsford Heat. The Ads will take on the Heat, the AHL affiliate for Calgary Flames, for the first time when they travel to Abbotsford, BC for a pair of games on October 16th and 17th. Milwaukee will get their first glimpse of the Stars, the Dallas Stars farm club on Wednesday, November 25th in Austin.

January is the busiest month of the season for the Ads, as the team will play 17 contests during the first month with seven of those games taking place at home and ten coming on the road. March is the next busiest month with 13 games, April is the least populated with just six contests, but all of them will be within the first 11 days.

For the ninth consecutive season, the Milwaukee Admirals will play in the AHL’s West Division in the Western Conference. Joining the Ads in the West Division are the Chicago Wolves, Houston Aeros, Peoria Rivermen, Rockford IceHogs, San Antonio Rampage, and Texas Stars.

Milwaukee will play 54 of their 80 games against opponents from their own division, including ten match-ups each with the Wolves, Rivermen, and IceHogs with five games at home and five on the road. The Admirals will take on the three teams from the Lone Star State (Houston, San Antonio, and Texas) a total of eight times each.

The Ads remaining 26 games will involve teams from the North Division, with six of those contests coming against the Grand Rapids Griffins, and four each against the Hamilton Bulldogs, Lake Erie Monsters, Manitoba Moose, Toronto Marlies, and other new AHL squad Abbotsford Heat. The lone team in the North that the Admirals will not play is the Rochester Americans.

Home Schedule
Under the tutelage of third-year Head Coach Lane Lambert, the Admirals will play 24 of their 40 home games on Friday, Saturday or Sunday and they will do battle with 12 of the 29 other AHL teams at the Bradley Center this season.

Just as most previous seasons, Friday will be the most popular night for the Admirals, as the team will hit the BC ice 13 times for Friday affairs throughout the season. Sundays are the next most frequent date with six games and Saturday comes in third with five games. Milwaukee will play on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays five times each.

The Admirals longest homestand this year will be five games, which they will do on a pair of occasions. The first five-game stretch will be from January 28th to February 5th, while the second one is less than two weeks later, running from February 14th to the 27th. From Valentines Day through St. Patrick’s Day the Ads will play host in 10 of their 12 contests.

Road Schedule
The Admirals start the season with a six game road trip that runs from October 3rd through the 23rd and is the longest trip to start the season in team history. However the longest swing of the year is an eight-gamer that from Michigan to Illinois and then to Texas from November 13th through the 28th. The Ads will take their annual trip to Texas over Thanksgiving, which will account for six of the eight contests on the eight-game road trip.

Milwaukee will play three-quarters of their road games prior to January 26th, thanks in large part to ten away games during the month of January. February involves the least amount of travel for the Ads, as they have just three road games, and only one of them, at Lake Erie on February 10th is outside of Illinois.

Bradley Center Game Times
With the exception of a 1:00 pm start against Peoria on April 6th, game times for Monday through Friday contests at the Bradley Center will be 7:00 pm, while all five Saturday night frays will begin at 7:30 pm. Puck drop for Sunday afternoon matinees will occur at either 4:00 pm or 5:00 pm

Individual tickets for the 2009-10 season will go on sale at a future date. However, season tickets are now on sale, starting at just $145. For more information, or to purchase season tickets, fans can call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
