Winter Classic Time Changed To 8:00 PM

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Heinz Field will now be a night game in prime time on Jan. 1.

Due to forecasts of steady rain during the day, the NHL has decided to move the starting time of the game to 8:00 p.m. Gates at Heinz Field will open at 5:30 p.m. and stadium parking lots will open at 2:30 p.m.

While we realize this may cause some inconvenience, the decision was made in the best interests of our fans and our players. The NHL Winter Classic is one of the league’s signature events, and dealing with the uncertainty of the elements is all a part of outdoor hockey. We look forward to seeing you for the first-ever Winter Classic prime time night game!
