The Pittsburgh Viper Stars are a AAA Tier I hockey club, and proud member of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL). Finishing with a first place record of 52-19-5-1 this past season, not only are the Viper Stars a competitive program, they also know how to balance athletics and academics. Through hard work and dedication, select members of the Viper Stars earned spots on the All-PHL Teams, the All-PHL Academic Team, and the Top Prospects Team this year.

The NAPHL is a premier league that offers amateur competition for the Midget Major (U18) and Midget Minor (U16) age groups. Created four years ago, the league provides opportunities for amateur hockey players to maximize their potential.

This season four players from the Viper Stars were named as members of the All-PHL Team, and of those four, three have already signed tender agreements to an NAHL team. Heinz Koster (Kittanning, Pa) was nominated All-PHL First team, Bob Tritschler (Lower Burrell, Pa) along with Alex Baskakov (Canonsburg, Pa), were nominated All-PHL Second team; Jake Pilewicz (Sewickley, Pa) was also named All-PHL Third team.

Four Viper Stars were also named All-PHL Academic Team, which is an outstanding accomplishment. In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must carry a GPA of 3.5 or greater throughout the year. If students are qualified, coaches can then nominate them to be on this team. The four Viper Stars who were qualified and nominated this year are Clayton Bouchard, Jake Pilewicz, Doug Revak, and Nick Shultz.

The NAPHL Top Prospects team is a team composed of the top midget major players from the league. These nominated players will be broken down into four teams, to compete against each other in a three day tournament. Five Viper Stars will be representing the team this year and they are Doug Revak, Jake Pilewicz, Jacob Hetz, Elliot Tisdale, and Bob, Tritschler.
