Three Pittsburgh Players Named to Team USA For World Under-18 Championships in Germany

Three Pittsburgh area players have been named to Team USA for the World Under-18 Championship tournament in Germany April 14-24.

Goaltender John Gibson (Whitehall), forward  JT Miller (Moon/E. Palestine, OH) and defenseman Barrett Kaib (Upper St. Clair) were named to the 25-man roster for  the prestigious international event, featuring many top prospects for the 2011 NHL Draft.

Gibson, Miller and Kaib play for the U.S National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Michigan. All three came up through the Pittsburgh Hornets program, and Kaib also skated in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League for Upper St. Clair.

Gibson is rated by NHL Central Scouting as the No. 1 North American goaltender available for the 2011 draft. He is 17-10-4 with a 2.64 goals-against average in 32 games this season.

Miller, ranked as the No. 13 North American skater in the draft, has 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points in 48 games. He ranks second on the team in assists and third in points.

Kaib has chipped in seven assists in 44 games.

Gibson has committed to the University of Michigan, Miller to North Dakota and Kaib to Providence.
