Penguins representatives will be providing a live-game blog during Penguins' playoff games this season. Check back for updates, injury reports and information throughout the game.


10:45 PM: The clock expires and the Pens seal this game away with a final score of 4-2 tying the series up at 2-2. The next game is Saturday night in Detroit.

10:44 PM: Kunitz nearly tallies an empty-net goal but Kronwall hooks him and receives a penalty for the stunt.

10:43 PM: The Red Wings pull Osgood.

10:41 PM: Fleury makes a phenominal toe-kick save.

10:32 PM: Crosby sets up Guerin with a pass and Guerin fires a shot on Osgood but the netminder makes the save.

10:28 PM: Detroit controls possession of the puck for a while until Talbot punches the puck away, skates to the other and and wrists a shot on net.

10:26 PM: Crosby goes down in the far circle and is slow to get up. He skates gingerly to the bench.

10:25 PM: Fedotenko wrists a shot into Osgood.

10:21 PM: Crosby, Talbot and Kunitz work together in Detroit's end and almost poke in a puck that was loose in the crease but Osgood managed to cover it.

10:17 PM: A back-and-forth period thus far with chances for both teams.

10:11 PM: The third period begins.

10:10 PM: The Penguins take the ice for the third period.

9:57 PM: Numbers to note:
-The Pens out shot the Wings, 11-9, in the period.
-Malkin still leads the game in shots with six followed by Hossa who has five.
-The Penguins tallied three goals within a 5:37 span in the period.

9:52 PM: Malkin earns a breakaway in the final moments of the second period and is forced to take a slap shot from the high slot as the clock expired.

9:46 PM: Fleury uses his shoulder to block a Hossa slap shot.

9:41 PM: Crosby, Kunitz and Kennedy make a tic-tac-toe play in Detroit's end and Kennedy finishes it off with a one-time shot that surpasses Osgood. The fans here erupt when the jumbotron plays a video of WWE wrestler Mr. Kennedy announcing Tyler Kennedy's goal. Penguins 4, Red Wings 2.

9:38 PM: Fedotenko whisks a one-time rebound attempt just wide of an empty cage.

9:35 PM: The Pens are outshooting the Wings, 7-5, in the second period so far.

9:31 PM: Crosby scores his first goal of the series! The arena is insane right now... the fans are still on their feet. Bylsma made a great decision to play Malkin and Crosby together after the Penguins' penalty kill. Penguins 3, Red Wings 2.

9:30 PM: The Pens kill off the penalty to Orpik.

9:29 PM: Staal scores shorthanded! He muscled his way around Rafalski and flipped the puck in. Penguins 2, Red Wings 2.

9:28 PM: Malkin exits the box and picks up the puck on his way out to skate in on a breakaway but Osgood stops him.

9:27 PM: With two seconds left on Malkin's penalty Orpik goes to the box for tripping.

9:26 PM: Fleury hugs the far post and makes a spectacular save.

9:23 PM: After completing an incredible shift that yielded several quality scoring chances, Malkin receives a hooking penalty.

9:21 PM: Chris Kunitz just knocked down two Red Wings players with one hit.

9:17 PM: Stuart, assisted by Zetterberg, capitalizes on a shot from the near point. Red Wings 2, Penguins 1.

9:15 PM: The second period begins.

8:59 PM: Numbers to Note:
-Detroit outshot Pittsburgh, 19-11, in the first period.
-Malkin leads the game in shots with four.
-The Pens outhit the Wings, 18-14, in the frame.

8:57 PM: The first period concludes.

8:56 PM: Malkin comes close to tapping in a loose puck in the crease in the final moments of the period. 

8:54 PM: Helm intercepts a pass in the far circle and wrists a shot into the twine to tie the game. Penguins 1, Red Wings 1.

8:52 PM: Crosby breaks into Detroit's zone and pulls a spinning-backhand move to flip a shot that nearly squeezes past Osgood.

8:50 PM: Now Guerin goes to the box for high sticking and the game goes to four-on-four.

8:49 PM: Ericsson goes to the box for high sticking Kunitz and the Pens go on the power play.

8:47 PM: Kronwall fans on a pass and leaves the puck sitting in the far faceoff circle for Malkin to scoop up. Malkin dished it to Fedotenko who wristed a shot that Osgood blocked.

8:43 PM: Satan backhands a shot on net and Talbot nearly capitalizes on the rebound attempt but Osgood thwarts the play.

8:42 PM: Malkin and Crosby play together on the same line for a bit and put on something of a passing clinic in Detroit's end.

8:40 PM: The penalty expires. The Pens did a fantastic job killing it off.

8:38 PM: Staal clears the puck out and Cooke chases it into Detroit's zone whilst landing a check to Lidstrom in the corner.

8:37 PM: Eaton goes to the box.

8:33 PM: Malkin steals the puck below the goal line and dishes a pass to Talbot which yields a great scoring chance in Detroit's end.

8:31 PM: Play shifts to Pittsburgh's zone and the Red Wings tally a handful of shots but Pittsburgh stands tall.

8:29 PM: Crosby earns a semi-breakaway and wrists a shot that Osgood covers.

8:21 PM: Fleury makes two solid saves in the Penguins' end.

8:18 PM: Malkin converts on the power play with a brilliant backhand shot. Letang first rocketed a shot just wide of the net which Malkin corralled behind the net and then flipped past a scrambling Osgood. Penguins 1, Red Wings 0.

8:16 PM: Malkin draws a penalty and Kronwall goes to the box for tripping. The Pens go on the power play.

8:15 PM: The puck drops.

8:14 PM: Jeff Jimmerson sings the national Anthem.

8:11 PM: The Penguins take the ice to the jubilant reception of the Pittsburgh fans. This place is pumped!

8:05 PM: Detroit has decided not to play Datsyuk tonight, however Kris Draper will play in place of Justin Abdelkader. Detroit's scratches include Pavel Datsyuk, Jimmy Howard, Justin Abdelkader, Derek Meech, Chris Chelios, Darren McCarty, Aaron Downey, Jakub Kindl and Romas Kopecky.

Pittsburgh scratches include Alex Goligoski, Mike Zigomanis, Petr Sykora, Eric Godard and Philippe Boucher.

8:02 PM: We're 10 minutes away from the puck drop. The Arena is quickly filling up with enthusiastic, white-clad fans.

7:43 PM: A point of interest for the warmup is which players prefer to forgo their helmet for the warmup - an old school move. Penguins without helmets are: Guerin, Gonchar, Dupuis, Boucher, Gill, and Adams. Detroit players without helmets are: Datsyuk, Draper, Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Holmstrom. 

7:38 PM: Both teams are on the ice and warming up for the start of Game 4 here at the Igloo. Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk is warming up with the Red Wings but it is still not clear if he will play in tonight's game.

6:02 PM: Here are some shots the accumulation of fans at the outdoor screen. The Penguins are expecting 8,000-plus fans to attend the festivities.
