Penguins representatives will be providing a live-game blog during Penguins' playoff games this season. Check back for updates, injury reports and information throughout the game.

10:46 PM: The clock expires on the Penguins and they fall to the Red Wings, 3-1. The Pens outshot the Wings, 32-26, in the game.

10:41 PM: A huge scrum follows the whistle blow and Geno and Zetterberg throw several jabs at each other. The Wings earn a five-on-three advantage for the final seconds.

10:39 PM: The Pens pull Fleury for the final minute of the game and play an extra attacker.

10:38 PM: Fedotenko threads a pass through the crease that Malkin is unable to poke past Osgood.

10:35 PM: The Penguins are outshooting the Red Wings, 9-3, in the third period.

10:31 PM: Osgood makes an insane toe-kick save on a Crosby shot.

10:20 PM: Cooke smashes Draper into the boards behind Detroit's net and the hit leaves Draper without his helmet.

10:17 PM: Albdelkader beats Fleury gloveside to increase the Red Wings' lead to 3-1. Red Wings 3, Penguins 1.

10:14 PM: The officials rule no goal on the play.

10:12 PM: Crosby bounces a shot off of the far post, the play is under review.

10:09 PM: The third period begins.

10:05 PM: Also, Crosby is 9-4 on faceoffs in the game.

9:52 PM: Numbers to note after two periods:
-The Red Wings are leading in total shots, 23-20.
-Orpik is leading the game in shots so far with four.
-Kunitz and Gill each have four hits in the game.
-The Pens are winning 54% of the faceoffs so far in the game.
-Both teams have tallied nine takeaways in the game.

9:51 PM: The second period ends. A Detroit fan tosses an octopus on the ice.

9:49 PM: Fleury makes a great stick save on a Zetterberg shot after making saveral key saves on Cleary.

9:42 PM: Crosby and Guerin work hard in Detroit's zone to earn more scoring chances but can't crack the net.

9:37 PM: Crosby feeds a beautiful pass from behind the net to Guerin at the bottom of the far circle but his shot bounces off of the far post. What a scoring chance though...

9:31 PM: Filppula backhands a rebound into the net past a train-wreck of players in front of the net. Red WIngs 2, Penguins 1.

9:30 PM: The Pens successfully kill off the penalty.

9:26 PM: Gill drops to the ice to block a Zetterberg shot - great play.

9:26 PM: The Penguins go on the penalty kill.

9:22 PM: Ericsson scores on a shot from the point to tie the game at 1-1. Penguins 1, Red Wings 1.

9:19 PM: Talbot feeds a nice pass to Malkin who launches a shot on goal but Osgood bats it away.

9:18 PM: A cluster of enthusiastic Pens fans start a loud "Lets go Pens" chant here at the Joe.

9:13 PM: Kennedy wrists the first shot on goal in the period, but Osgood covers it up.

9:12 PM: The puck drops to begin the second period.

8:55 PM: Some numbers to note after the first period:
-The Penguins won 56% of the faceoffs in the first period.
-Malkin, Fedotenko and Kunitz each tallied two shots in the period.
-The Red Wings outhit the Pens, 14-11, in the frame.
-The Red Wings had 9 giveaways in the first period while the Penguins only had 5.

8:54 PM: The Pens rallied at the end of the period to outshoot the Wings, 11-7, and converted on the power play to take the lead in this game.

8:53 PM: The first period ends.

8:50 PM: The Pens convert on the power play! Malkin pounded in a shot to give the Pens the lead. Penguins 1, Red Wings 0.

8:48 PM: Talbot draws a penalty and the Pens go on the power play.

8:47 PM: Kennedy hustles into the Red WIngs' zone and forces a turnover that yields his line a scoring chance. Great effort by No. 48.

8:44 PM: Kunitz manages another great chance but is stopped by Osgood. Shots are now Red Wings 7, Penguins 5. 

8:43 PM: Fedotenko skates around Detroit's defense and rockets a shot on goal that beats Osgood five-hole, but slides wide of the net.

8:41 PM: Crosby sets up Kunitz with a pass but Osgood stops Kunitz's shot but it was a great chance for the Pens.

8:37 PM: Fedotenko breaks into Detroit's zone and lifts a shot on goal that Osgood covers up. The Wings lead in shots, 7-2, so far.

8:26 PM: Fleury uses his leg pads to keep out a pair of Detroit chances.

8:25 PM: The game is back-and-forth, but the Red Wings have tallied the only shot so far in the game.

8:20 PM: The puck drops for the start of the game.

8:08 PM: The Penguins made a change to their lineup for tonight's contest, dressing six defensemen and 12 forwards. Pascal Dupuis was inserted into the game in place of Philippe Boucher. It's the first time in the last eight games Pittsburgh has drifted away from its 7-11 model.

The scratches are forwards Petr Sykora and Eric Godard and defensemen Alex Goligoski and Boucher.

8:06 PM: We are less than 15 minutes away from puck drop in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena. The Red Wings grabbed an early 1-0 series lead with a 3-1 victory in Game 1 Saturday night. The Penguins are looking to even this series with a win tonight.
