It’s brother vs. brother Saturday night at Mellon Arena when the Hurricanes take on the Penguins at 7:30 p.m.

The contest will mark the first NHL battle for any of the four Staal brothers as Carolina’s Eric meets Pittsburgh’s Jordan.

Eric, the second-overall pick in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, won a Stanley Cup last season with the Hurricanes.

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Jordan was selected second-overall in this year’s draft by the Penguins. He scored his first NHL goal Thursday against the Rangers. Two more Staal brothers are on their way. Marc, a 19-year-old, was drafted 12th overall in 2005 by the Rangers, while 16-year-old Jared is in his first year of junior hockey.

The contest will also mark the first time Penguins forward Mark Recchi sees his former teammates. Recchi was traded to the Hurricanes late last season and helped them capture the Stanley Cup. He rejoined the Penguins as a free agent this summer.

FSN Pittsburgh will televise the contest at 7:30 p.m., while 105.9 The X will start its radio broadcast with a pregame show at 7 p.m. The broadcast may be found live through streaming audio on as well.
