The private side of Penguins star Sidney Crosby – a side so few fans and media see – will be the focus of a new PensTV video special that debuts Thursday night on ROOT Sports, following the Penguins’ preseason game at Detroit.
"There’s No Place Like Home” features exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of Crosby this summer in his hometown of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, where he hosted the inaugural Sidney Crosby Hockey School and prepared for the challenges of his 11th NHL season with fellow Cole Harbour native Nathan MacKinnon.
Pens TV cameras spent an entire week with Crosby and MacKinnon, a star with the Colorado Avalanche, documenting the intensity of their off-season workouts – and providing insight to both their friendship and competitiveness.
“Sid also gave us a tour of his lake-front home, showed us his favorite fishing spot and took us for a walk on his private dock,” said Leo McCafferty of PensTV, who produced the half-hour special. “It was clear that he didn’t want the summer to end too quickly, like most of us, but at the same time he was definitely eager for the start of the season.”
"There’s No Place Like Home" is a unique look at the best hockey player in the world – comfortable, relaxed and as down-to-earth as ever. It’s must-see viewing for every Penguins fan.
