Sidney Crosby, Penguins Announce the Return of the Little Penguins 'Learn to Play Hockey' Program

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins today announced the return of the Little Penguins “Learn to Play Hockey” program.  The program, launched last year, is designed to introduce the game to more children ages 4-7 in the Pittsburgh area.

This year’s program will take place at 21 area rinks.  Registration for the program will begin on Tuesday, December 1 at 10:00 am exclusively on the Little Penguins 'Learn to Play Hockey' page.

Children enrolled at participating rinks receive free head-to-toe hockey equipment
This one-of-a-kind program offers free head-to-toe hockey equipment to children who enroll in participating Learn to Play programs at local rinks.  Reebok and Dick’s Sporting Goods also are enthusiastically providing support.

Thanks to Crosby, the Penguins, Reebok and Dick’s Sporting Goods, each child who registers will receive Reebok SC87 Crosby-endorsed equipment, including skates, stick, helmet, gloves, pants, pads and an equipment bag, as well as a “Little Penguins” jersey.
“We were both excited and amazed by the reaction to the Little Penguins program last season, and we're very happy to be able to offer the program again this year," Crosby said.  "The goal is to continue to create opportunities for more kids in the Pittsburgh area to take up hockey.  With the Little Penguins program, they can receive head-to-toe equipment and learn the game in an organized and fun way."

"It's a tribute to Sid and his family that they want to reach out and create this incredible opportunity for children in the Pittsburgh area," said Penguins president David Morehouse.  "One of their goals was to help parents by providing free head-to-toe hockey equipment to properly equip their children.  The Penguins are honored to join Reebok and Dick's Sporting Goods in supporting Sid and this great program."
