Sergei Gonchar’s slap-shot deflected off a Ranger defender’s stick with 8:29 left in the period to knot the game. Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin had assists. Crosby now has a 15-point scoring streak, while Malkin has a point in nine-straight contests.
Michal Rozsival tallied a power-play goal with 2:39 left in the period for a 2-1 Rangers advantage.
Sean Avery’s slap-shot on the power play sailed past Marc-Andre Fleury 9:41 into the second period for a 3-1 Rangers edge.
Brandon Dubinsky scored his first NHL goal 2:48 into the third period for a 4-1 Rangers lead.
Mark Recchi tallied a power-play goal 4:22 into the third for a power-play goal. Gonchar and Gary Roberts had assists.
