Quote Roundup: Pens-Stars

by Sam Kasan @PensInsideScoop / Pittsburgh Penguins

Here is what the Pens had to say about their contest against the Dallas Stars.

On Sheary and Rowney: "They're all game-time decisions."

On Blueger: "He's a smart, two-way player. He's a real solid two-way player. He's got good hockey sense at both ends of the rink. He has awareness away from the puck. He's sound defensively. He's a good penalty killer. He brings all of those things to our team."

On Oleksiak: "He's been a good player for us. He's everything that we thought we were going to get when we acquired. Sergei Gonchar was most familiar with his game and Sergei works one-on-one with him through video and drills on the ice. He's everything that we thought he would be for us."

On returning: "It's definitely a surreal feeling coming back and being in the other dressing room. It's just another game. I'm going to approach it as such. Every point is big for us. I just want to try to help the team get the win."

On his game since joining Pittsburgh: "The team's playing with a lot of confidence. It's a team that has a lot of speed, a lot of skill. I try to just contribute whatever way I can. I don't know if it's anything I've changed personally, or it's just rubbing off playing with the guys in the room and how much confidence I'm playing with."

On his status: "I feel good. I feel ready to go. We'll see what happens. I'll probably double check with the doctors and trainers. If coach puts me in then I'll be ready to go."

On his recovery: "The original results showed that it was going to be worse. But from how I was feeling and doc came to the conclusion that it wasn't that bad. They kept me out for 10 days or so. It could have been a lot worse."

On his recall: "We had practice in Providence so I was at the rink. Clarkie (Donatelli) grabbed me and said you're getting called up. I got my travel info all set. It took off from there. It was pretty quick and a little bit unexpected, but it's definitely very exciting."

On the key to his recent success: "Just consistency. Consistently bringing work ethic and being reliable, playing a solid two-way game. Defensively I've been good. Keep working on my PK. When the offensive opportunities present themselves I think I've done a pretty good job of taking advantage for the most part."

On improving his skating: "Just some power skating stuff. Being more efficient with my stride. Having a longer stride and not being as choppy as I used to be."
