Here's what the Pens had to say before taking on the Winnipeg Jets.
ON BEING ONE POINT FROM 1,000
Crosby: "I would like to just get it. It has been awhile and I've been hovering around it. I try to enjoy it. We have a game here at home so it would be nice to get it. I am going to try and enjoy it."
Daley: "We know what's going on. I'm sure we'll get it over with tonight."
ON PATRIK LAINE
Maatta: "When a guy comes in at that young of an age to the NHL, it's not easy. It's pretty impressive what he's able to do on a regular basis. It looks like he hasn't had too many ups and downs. He just keeps producing. The shot, I don't know another player who has the same kind of shot. I think just his hockey sense as well. He knows where to be at the right times. He knows where the puck's going to come."
Dumoulin: "He's got a great shot. He's got one of those (Alex) Ovechkin shots where he doesn't need a lot of room to get it off quick and also he can score from any area. He's a dangerous threat every time he's out there. He's a lot like Ovechkin where you've got to gap up on him tight. You know he's going to try and cut to the middle and try to release it as quickly as he can. But he's got good moves too. It's going to be fun to play against him. Obviously it's all of our first times playing against him, so it should be a good challenge."
ON THE JETS
Fehr: "They have a lot of high-end skill and a lot of young players who can really move. Guys, if you give them room, are going to make plays. I think it is going to be up to us to make sure there are no easy outs and easy plays."
Daley: "I've seen Winnipeg a lot over the years. I'm used to them. They're a big, physical team. They move the puck well. They have some high-end skill up front. Some good playmakers on the backend. There's a lot that we have to key in on. If we stick to what we do best, we'll be fine."
ON TIGHTENING UP DEFENSIVELY
Dumoulin: "I think the percentage of the chances we're giving up are quality and we're giving up a lot of 2-on-1s and a lot of breakaways. A lot of the times we're controlling the play offensively and on the back end, we're definitely getting excited and maybe jumping up in the play a little bit too much. That's leading into those breaks. It's important for us to pick our spots a little more wisely."
Maatta: "We can't give those chances up because this team is going to capitalize if we play a sloppy game. We have to make sure we bring our best, and I think the biggest thing we've got to get better at is just being smart with the puck. We want to play with the puck, but there's not always a time and a place to make plays. Sometimes it's just putting pucks behind their players."
ON PLAYING WINNIPEG TONIGHT AND COLUMBUS TOMORROW:
Crosby: "We are position-oriented and we are fighting for a spot. I think that our division has played really well. Points are important and we need to get that tonight. We are going to play a desperate team so we need to make sure we are playing early."
Bonino: "It is just as important tonight as it is tomorrow night. We know every point is up for grabs and it is no different at the end of the year whether it is home ice or wildcard in our division. We need to get these points now and going into Columbus, we have a hard Winnipeg team that needs points too."
ON HIS HEALTH
Hagelin: "It was a good day today. I'm definitely moving in the right direction. Anytime you can be out there battling with the boys it's a positive thing. After most guys went off the ice I was out there with a few guys and (Rick Tocchet). I was battling in the corner. It felt good. I definitely feel good. There is no timetable, but moving in the right direction for sure."
