Here is what the Pens had to say heading into their contest against Columbus.
ON FACING THE BLUE JACKETS
Crosby: "We know that with only a week left here, we have to be playing the right way. We know what is on the line here tonight as far as points and standings. It should be a lot of motivation and I think we are just focused on ourselves and trying to play the right way down the stretch here."
Hornqvist: "It is always fun to play against Columbus. They bring really hard games here, at least in this building too. They're speed out there and our speed and we need a lot of emotions tonight and to get ready for playoffs here."
Dumoulin: "They have good, quick forwards. Their D can move the puck. Their a team that can finish (hits). They'll take the extra step off the forecheck and finish. If we move the puck well and are ready for that, it can benefit us."
ON HOME-ICE ADVANTAGE
Sullivan: "Both teams are well aware of the circumstances. We're both fighting for home-ice advantage and put our teams in the best position to be successful. Because of that it's an important game for both teams."
Crosby: "It is good to have (home-ice). You talk about matching lines and things like that. Things change. The atmosphere has been pretty good here all year long. I think it would be great to get especially after what we have gone through all year as far as injuries and things like that. If we can salvage home ice, I think it would be a big positive for us."
Hornqvist: "It is always nice when you don't have to travel for the first game in playoffs. At the same time, this is not life and death. You still need to win four games and you have to win on the road anyways, but it is nice to start at home."
ODDS AND ENDS
Sullivan on who wins golf matches against John Tortorella: "If it wasn't a net world and he didn't have to get strokes, it's a simple answer."
Daley on his injury: "Just to get back in practice with the boys was fun. We're just going to take it day-by-day, but I'm feeling pretty good. I'm going to get to go on the (upcoming 3-game road trip), so we'll see what happens."
Crosby on the NHL not participating in the Olympics: "It is disappointing. I think when you get into negotiations and things like that, I really thought something was going to be able to work out. Unfortunately that is not the case."
