Here is what the Pens had to say heading into their showdown with Philadelphia in the city of Brotherly Love…
ON THE FLYERS
Sullivan: "It's an exciting environment to play in. It's a great rivalry. It's two teams with long histories and storied traditions. There's always a heightened level of emotion associates with the games. They're the most fun to be a part of. The standings and where each respective team sits in the standings at this time of year. just heightens the intensity and emotion involved with this type of game, we have a lot of respect for the flyers they're a really good team."
Crosby: "There's always a little something extra in those games. With what's on the line tonight, important points and divisional stuff, that is to be expect that (the rivalry) will pick up a little bit more."
Rust: "Playing against this team, it's been a rivalry for a long time. It continues to be that way, with where we both are in the standings it ramps things up even more."
ON PLAYING IN PHILLY
Crosby: "(The Flyers) always really good here. With the situation being what it is an how important the points are, being next to each other in the standings, there's a lot to play for tonight. They'll be ready."
Rust: "It's not too much different than any other place, the fans don't like us. It's a fairly rowdy building, but there's a lot of those around the league, so it's something that we've seen before. We try to take that kind of energy and make it our own and kind of swing momentum on our side."
Maatta: "It felt like there was something more than a game. There's definitely a fire in there and that's what you enjoy, these games are always awesome to play."
ON FINISHING THE SEASON STRONG
Rust: "For us it's trying to finish playing well, trying to play well and play well consistently, that's our goal. Sometimes you don't win games and you play well, sometimes you don't play well and win games. For us it's playing the right way."
Hagelin: "Right now, we're looking at winning the next game. We have 14 games left. We can't look too far ahead. We haven't made the payoffs yet. We want to go in tonight and play Pittsburgh Penguins hockey, we have a lot of speed and try to spend a lot of time in the offensive zone, instead of being in our own end giving up chances."
ODDS AND ENDS
Sheahan on facing his friend goalie Petr Mrazek: "I'll try to get one on him. He knows where I like to shoot so I may have to switch it up a bit."
Sullivan on what he wants from the fourth line: "We want our fourth line to make a difference. They can do that different ways. They can generate momentum, be sound defensively, establish a forecheck, control territory, create scoring chances, kill penalties. There's lots of ways they can help us win."
