Here's what the Pens were saying in the locker room before their matchup with Carolina...

ON HOW TO REPLACE BONINO:
Sullivan: "He does a lot for us. He plays in a lot of key situations. He's a penalty killer, he's a good two-way centerman. He plays on one of the power-play units. So he plays in a lot of key situations, so we're going to have to use different people to fill those types of roles. It'll be other opportunities for guys to step up."
ON STEPPING IN FOR BONINO:
Rowney: "When you sit out a game, I think you get more hungry. You want to be back in that lineup as fast as possible. I'm ready to play and I'm excited."
ON WHAT THEY EXPECT FROM THE MATCHUP:
Kuhnhackl: "Last time we were here, it was 7-1. Obviously they're going to be ready for tonight, for sure. So we've got to bring our A-game."
ON GETTING THE POWER PLAY GOING AGAINST CAROLINA'S TOP-RANKED PENALTY KILL:
Crosby: "I think it just starts with our work ethic. If we're ready to outwork the other team's penalty kill then I think we have enough skill to create and we'll give ourselves more time that way, too, in the zone. So I think just our work ethic and executing, getting in the zone a little smoother I think will go a long way to giving us more time to make plays once we get there. (Carolina is) just really aggressive. They work hard. I think even more of a reason to do the same thing I just said as far as work ethic."
Sullivan: "I think it's their aggression. They're quick, they skate well, their defensemen have good sticks, long reaches, they're mobile guys. They put power plays under duress and they force you to have to make plays under pressure. We're going to have to be prepared to make the puck work. We're going to have to support the puck well and we've got to be ready to handle their aggression."
ON WHAT THE PENALTY KILL IS DOING TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Kuhnhackl: "The last couple games we've done a pretty good job pressuring on the half wall. We have a game plan going into tonight on what we're going to do and we're going to try and do it as good as we can."
Hagelin: "I think we're more aggressive. We're getting the clears we need to get and getting good goaltending. It's that simple."
ON PLAYING HIS 400TH GAME:
Hagelin: "You look back and you realize how much time flies. You still feel like a young kid and you still feel like you have a lot left in the tank. It's definitely a fun accomplishment."
