The best hockey players in the world are coming to Pittsburgh in September for a World Cup of Hockey pre-tournament doubleheader at CONSOL Energy Center.

Sidney Crosby and Team Canada will take on Evgeni Malkin and Team Russia, while Matt Murray and Team North America will face Team Czech Republic in their final pre-tournament games on Wednesday, September 14.

Tickets for this exciting international event go on sale to the general public Wednesday, May 25 at 10 a.m.

One ticket will provide access to both games. The North America-Czech Republic game will be played at 3:30, followed by Canada-Russia at 7:30.

Tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com; by calling 1.800.642.PENS; or by visiting the Dick’s Sporting Goods Box Office at CONSOL Energy Center.

More than 150 NHL players are expected to compete in the tournament, which will be held from September 17 - October 1 in Toronto. All games will be played at the Air Canada Centre, home of the Toronto Maple Leafs. Other teams competing include the USA, Sweden, Finland and Team Europe.

Team North America is a unique concept, featuring the best players aged 23 and under from the USA and Canada. Pittsburgh area natives Brandon Saad, J.T. Miller and John Gibson have already been named to the North American roster, along with the Penguins’ Matt Murray.

Teams will fill out their rosters by early June.
