Penguins to Appear on National TV Eleven Times Throughout 2017.18 Season

The National Hockey League and NBC Sports Group combined today to announce the league's 2017.18 national broadcast schedule. For the second-straight year, the back-to-back champion Pittsburgh Penguins will play in the first nationally broadcast game of the season on NBC Sports Network, Pittsburgh's home opener against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday, October 4 at 8:00PM at PPG Paints Arena.

Before that game, the Penguins will raise their 2017 Stanley Cup championship banner.
The opening-night tilt between Pittsburgh and St. Louis is the first of eleven exclusive national TV games that will feature the Penguins on either NBC or NBC Sports Network, or streaming on NBCSports.com or the NBC Sports app. In total, the Penguins will make 16 national TV appearances, with the five non-exclusive contests also broadcasted locally on AT&T SportsNet (formerly ROOT SPORTS).
In total, AT&T SportsNet will carry 73 Penguins games this season, beginning on Thursday, October 5 when the Penguins visit the Chicago Blackhawks at 8:30PM ET. Newcomer Steve Mears will serve as the play-by-play broadcaster alongside color commentator Bob Errey and rinkside reporter Dan Potash.
Pittsburgh's total of 16 appearances on national TV is tied with the Philadelphia Flyers for the second-highest total in the league, one behind Chicago (17).
