The game was developed in partnership with Electric Owl Studios, a locally-based game studio formed by Carnegie Mellon University graduates.
“Extra Attacker is a Penguins-themed game that was created to add another touch-point with fans in Pittsburgh and around the world,” said James Santilli, the team’s’ vice president of marketing. “It will enable fans to utilize their knowledge of the Penguins’ roster and also encourage them to follow the team more closely.”
In “Extra Attacker,” fans can test their talents in managing the Penguins lineup. It’s free to play, and participants can also set up their own leagues and compete against one another.
The game is starting with a two-week “pre-season,” so that players may familiarize themselves with the concept. The regular season starts Jan. 5. Fans who register will have a chance to compete for weekly prizes, including autographed memorabilia and tickets.
The Penguins were introduced to Electric Owl Studios by the Pittsburgh Technology Council. Electric Owl focuses on children’s and web-based development, and the company produces simple, engaging activities and games appropriate for all ages.
