The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite squirt minor team (nine year olds) are facing off against teams from Philadelphia, Cleveland and Rochester, NY. as well as the Pittsburgh Predators in the first Penguins Elite Icebreaker Tournament this weekend at CONSOL Energy Center.

The new Pittsburgh Penguins Elite youth hockey program is presented by Dick’s Sporting Goods.

“It’s a great opportunity for these kids to play in an NHL arena, on the same rink as their NHL heroes,” said Rich Hixon, the Penguins’ Executive Director of Strategic Development.

Icebreaker Tournament games were played Friday night, and will be played Saturday and Sunday with the tournament championship game scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Penguins Elite team took on the Rochester Grizzlies Friday at 6:30 p.m. Other Pens games include:

Pens vs. Team Comcast (Philadelphia), Saturday, 9:30 a.m.
Pens vs. Pittsburgh Predators, Saturday, 5 p.m.
Pens vs. Cleveland Barons, Sunday, 8 a.m.
