The Mario Lemieux Foundation and Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation announced the race route for the Pittsburgh Penguins 6.6K Run and Family Walk presented by UPMC Sports Medicine, to be held on Sunday, October 6. Runners will begin the 6.6K race at CONSOL Energy Center and make their way downtown. They will take Liberty Avenue to the 16th Street Bridge for a short tour of the North Shore. Runners will cross back into the city on the Ninth Street Bridge to Wood Street, then head back towards CONSOL Energy Center for the finish. The one mile family walk will also start and finish at CONSOL Energy Center. Both race routes can be found at http://www.mariolemieux.org/events/66k-run-and-family-walk/.
Additionally, the Penguins will hold an open practice for race participants and volunteers only, following the race. Runners, walkers and volunteers will have access to the Penguins open practice after the race by using their race bib for entry. More details regarding the open practice will be available closer to the race.
