2:52 PM: Although the Penguins outshot the Red Wings, 10-9, in the third period they were unable to get anything past Conklin and their hopes of a three-game winning streak were squashed by the Winged-Wheels.

2:50 PM: The Red Wings tack on another goal to their lead with less then two minutes left to play. Datsyuk carried the puck into the Pens zone along the near boards, skated toward the net and got a backhand shot off which just tricked past Fleury's five-hole for the point. The goal was Datsyuk's second of the game. Red Wings 3, Penguins 0.

2:34 PM: The Red Wings up their lead to 2-0 with a goal from Marian Hossa. Hossa skated the puck around the Pens zone and flipped a quick backhand shot past Fleury from the high slot. Red Wings 2, Penguins 0.

2:20 PM: The third period begins with the Pens on the power play.

2:03 PM: The Second period ends with the Pens on the power play. They will begin the third period with 1:09 remaining on Nicklas Lidstrom's penalty. The Red Wings lead the Pens in shots, 20-15, after two periods of play.

1:45 PM: The Red Wings score a power-play goal. Petr Sykora was in the box for a holding penalty. Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg skates the puck into the Pens zone along the near boards. H stopped at the hash marks and released a shot which Fleury blocked. Pavel Datsyuk was alone at the other side of the net and he scooped the rebound past Fleury for the score. Red Wings 1, Penguins 0.

1:30 PM: The second period begins.

1:13 PM: The first period winds to a close with the Pens outshooting Detroit, 7-6. The Pens defense and penalty kill unit played a sharp first period and thanks to several poke-checks at key moments the Pens keep the WIngs off the board. The score is tied at 0-0.

12:52 PM: Penguins Fans welcome Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney to the Igloo with enthusiastic cheers as a the local hero takes in the game.

12:49 PM: Crosby and Mikael Samuelsson get into a little tussle in the Pens zone - no punches are thrown - but both are sent to the sin bin for two minutes. Crosby goes for slashing and Samuelsson for cross checking. The teams play four-on-four.

12:35 PM: The Igloo crowd emphatically boos Marian Hossa as the former Pen takes his first shift on Mellon Ice since being a Penguin.

12:30 PM: The Penguins step onto the ice at Mellon Arena sporting their blue-alternate jerseys. Coming off of back-to-back wins the Pens hope to defeat the defending Stanley Cup champs today at the Igloo. In the two teams first meeting this season the Pens bested the Wings, 7-6, in an improbable overtime comeback victory on Nov. 11. The Wings come into todays match with a three game winning streak.

Fleury will play between the pipes for the Pens. Scratches for the Pens today are forward Chris Minard and defenseman Philippe Boucher. Former Penguin Ty Conklin will start in net for the WIngs. Scratches for Detroit are forwards Johan Franzen and Thomas Holmstrom and defenseman Derek Meech.
