2:52 PM: The Pens'-in-Blueshirts beat Broadway's Blueshirts, 3-0.

Penguins 3, Rangers 0.

The three stars of the game are:

1. Marc-Andre Fleury (who greeted the crowd in a Steelers helmet, waving a terrible towel). He made 33 saves for the shutout.

2. Petr Sykora.

3. Christopher Minard.

Go Steelers!

2:51 PM: The Igloo now chants, "Crosby!" Everyone is on their feet and waving terrible towels.

2:50 PM: The Rangers leave Lundqvist in net with one minute to play.

2:46 PM: With four minutes left in the game the Igloo crowd chants, "Go home Rangers!"

2:21 PM: The fans welcome the third period by waving their terrible towels. Even though the Penguins lead by three goals, both teams are playing with intensity. The referees may have a lot to handle here at Mellon in the third period.

2:02 PM: The teams head to the locker room for the second intermission. The Rangers are leading the Penguins in shots, 23-17, after two periods of play.

1:55 PM: Malkin joins Crosby in the penalty box for cross checking Zherdev. The Russian natives are really gunning for each other. The Rangers have a four-on-three advantage.

1:51 PM: Orr pushes Crosby around in front of the Rangers' bench and holds Crosby off of the puck. Crosby shoves Orr back and both players go to the box. It's interesting that Orr will gladly pick on Crosby, but is avoiding Godard at all costs.

1:48 PM: Malkin knocks the skates out from under Zherdev and sends him to the ice behind the Rangers' net.

1:45 PM: One avid Pittsburgh fan sitting in front of the glass near the Penguins' bench is displaying a huge Terrible Towel - it takes up half the glass pane he is sitting in front of.

1:44 PM: Godard has twice tried to get Rangers' tough-guy Colton Orr to drop the gloves, but Orr has so far refused to spar with Godard.

1:39 PM: The Penguins score a power-play goal. Sykora took a pass from Whitney and put the puck past Lundqvist's stick side. The goal was Sykora's 17th of the season.

The Rangers are ranked No.1 in the league for penalty kill at 88 percent but it looks like the Pens found a way to get past them.

Penguins 3, Rangers 0.

1:28 PM: Crosby gets to take a penalty shot after the Rangers trip him on a break away. Lundqvist made the save.

1:25 PM: The Penguins and the Rangers return for the second period of action. The Penguins outshot the Rangers 9-7 in the first period.

1:08 PM: The First period ends and the Mellon crowd offers its applause to the Penguins for their 2-0 lead.

1:07 PM: The crowd chants "Fleury, Fleury," after the goalie made a key save with one minute left in the period.

1:05 PM: A Penguin fan somewhere in the crowd shouts, "Ovechkin, you suck!" Either he is a few days behind, since the Pens played the Capitals on Wednesday, or perhaps the fans don't know who to boo now that Jagr no longer plays with the Rangers.

1:00 PM: The Penguins score! Miroslav Satan skated the puck into the Rangers' zone and dropped it to Tyler Kennedy who took a shot from the near circle that beat Lundqvist on the stick side.

Penguins 2, Rangers 0.

12:40 PM: Pens score the first goal of the game. Petr Sykora made a perfect pass from behind the net right to the stick of Christopher Minard, who one-timed it past Lundqvist for the point. The goal is Minard's first of the season. Minard just changed his number to 14 at the beginning of this game. Perhaps the number change was also a change of luck for the left winger.

The Mellon crowd is booming as they play a spliced Penguins and Steelers highlight video on the jumbotron.

Penguins 1, Rangers 0.

12:35 PM: Mellon Arena crowd is waving their terrible towels in support of the Steelers. They loudly applauded when it was announced that Crosby was on the starting lineup.

12:33 PM: Sidney Crosby, Rob Scuderi and Kris Letang will each be playing against the Rangers today. All three players missed the Penguins last game against the Ducks. The Penguins sctratches today are forward Janne Pesonen and defenseman Brooks Orpik and Alex Goligoski. Goligoski will miss the game due to illness. Scratches for the Rangers are forwards Aaron Voros and Dan Fritsche.

The Penguins will start Marc-Andre Fleury in net. Henrik Lundqvist will start in net for the Rangers.
