10:00 PM: The Pens miss three empty-netter attempts. Cooke, Crosby and Malkin each go wide on their shots, but it doesn't matter because the Penguins shut out the Flames, 2-0.

Three Stars:
1. Marc-Andre Fleury
2. Hal Gill
3. Evgeni Malkin

9:35 PM: The Penguins take a 2-0 lead over the Flames. Rob Scuderi poke-checked the puck from Mike Cammalleri and passed it up to Malkin in the neutral zone. Malkin carried the puck into Calgary's zone and left a drop pass for Hal Gill. Gill wristed a shot into the upper left shelf for his second goal of the season. Penguins 2, Flames 0.

9:32 PM: The Pens keep Cooke, Malkin and Sykora on the same line so far this period.

9:26 PM: The Pens successfully kill of Malkin's penalty.

9:25 PM: The Pens and Flames return for third period play, 43 seconds remain on Malkin's penalty.

9:09 PM: The second period ends and the Pens hold onto their one goal lead.

9:06 PM: The Flames catch the Pens on an awkward line chance and get a great scoring chance but Fleury slides across the crease and makes a spectacular pad save to shut them down. The crowd chants his name in appreciation of the save.

9:04 PM: The Mellon Arena crowd erupts in an effort to cheer the Pens through a four-minute penalty kill which will last for the remainder of the second period. Malkin received a four-minute high sticking penalty.

8:55 PM: The Pens put Crosby and Malkin out together for the four-on-four. Staal and Sykora are the next pairing the Pens use before the penalties expire.

8:51 PM: The game heats up as Fleury covers up a shot and both teams engage in a little scrum near the net. Gonchar and Iginla each receive roughing penalties - it's time for a little bit of four-on-four action.

8:39 PM: It looks like the Pens may be shaking up their lines a bit as Cooke is playing with Malkin and Sykora, and Fedotenko is playing with Kennedy and Staal. We'll keep you posted on whether or not they keep these combinations.

8:32 PM: Second period play begins.

8:15 PM: The first period comes to a close. The Penguins lead the Flames by one goal despite getting outshot, 12-9, in the period. The Penguins special teams played well in the period, killing off all three penalties they received as well as scoring a goal on Pittsburgh's only man-advantage in the period.

7:54 PM: The Penguins take the lead with a power-play goal. Malkin wound-up and shot from the near point. Crosby picked up Malkin's rebound and sent an intuitive pass through the crease to Kris Letang who tapped it in from the back-door. Penguins 1, Flames 0.

7:37 PM: The Pittsburgh Penguins face off against arguably the Western Conference's hottest teams, the Calgary Flames. The Flames hold the the third seed in the Western Conference with 90 points and boast a potent offense.

Marc-Andre Fleury is starting in net for Pittsburgh. Scratches for the Pens are forward Craig Adams and defenseman Philippe Boucher.

Miikka Kiprusoff is in net for Calgary. The Flames only scratch is defenseman Adam Pardy.
