10:21 PM: The game ends and the Pens have a 2-0 lead in this series with their, 7-4, victory over the Canes here tonight.
10:17 PM: A handful of fighting penalties are handed out to the players from both teams. One minute remains in this game.
10:13 PM: At the other end of the ice a huge brawl ensues behind the Pens' net. Satan gets the best of Samsonov while Gleason and Letang also throw a few jabs at each other. The officials are convening in front of the penalty boxes now.
10:11 PM: Kennedy scores an empty-net goal to all but seal the deal on this game.

10:10 PM: Orpik blocks a shot with his legs and forces the Hurricanes to play the puck offsides.
10:05 PM: Fleury robs Cole who launched a point-blank shot from in front of the net.
10:03 PM: Adams just hammered Pitkanen with a hit behind the Canes' net.
9:59 PM: Malkin nets a hat trick with a sick back-hand shot that eludes Ward to give the Pens a two-goal lead. The ice is flooded with hats.

9:50 PM: Malkin answers the fans in the Mellon Arena who were chanting his name by scoring a goal for them. He punched a puck over the leg pad of Ward for the goal. His goal was assisted by Kunitz.

9:44 PM: No luck on the power play this time.
9:41 PM: Cullen trips Crosby and goes to the box for the stunt.
9:39 PM: Bayda dishes the puck from the near corner out to Eaves who wrists it past Fleury to ties the game at 4-4.

9:34 PM: The third period begins.
9:18 PM: The second period ends with the Pens in the lead, 4-3. They outshot Carolina, 16-6, in the period.
9:16 PM: As promised before the game, Kunitz nets his breakout goal, his first of the playoffs. There was a scrum in the corner and Kunitz emerged victorious with the puck so he skated around the near faceoff dot and wristed the puck past Ward for the go-ahead goal.
Penguins 4, Hurricanes 3.
9:13 PM: Gonchar and Cole are returned to the ice as their penalties expire.
9:12 PM: Crosby makes a move in the slot and gets a shot off that Ward blocks.
9:09 PM: Shots favor the Pens, 25-20, so far in the game. Now Gonchar is headed to the box for interference, oddly Cole received a matching penalty but for holding Gonchar. The game goes to four-on-four.
9:06 PM: Fedotenko is out of the box.
9:05 PM: Cooke clears the puck out and the game goes to five-on-four.
9:03 PM: Now Fedotenko joins Malkin in the penalty boxing for tripping E. Staal. The Canes have a four-on-three advantage.
9:02 PM: J. Staal comes so close to scoring, he skates the puck into the Hurricanes' end and takes a shot as he is falling to the ice, but it goes just wide of the net.
8:59 PM: Kunitz earns a few great chances during the power play but nothing goes in. As soon as the power play expired, a scrum ensued and Malkin sparred with LaRose. Both are sent to the penalty box for roughing.
8:55 PM: Cullen high-sticks Crosby and the Pens go on the power play.
8:53 PM: Ward covers a puck in the crease but a scrum ensues around the net once the whistle blows. The referees have to break it up.
8:47 PM: The crowd is really jazzed up and are chanting for the Pens.
8:43 PM: Crosby passes the puck around the boards and Malkin redirects it up ice to send Talbot on a breakaway. Talbot wrists it in to tie the game at 3-3.

8:42 PM: Talbot and Adams get a short-handed chance at the other end, but Adams's shot goes just wide.
8:40 PM: Now Crosby is in the box and the Pens are on the penalty kill.
8:39 PM: Letang pinches in, after holding the puck in at the blue line, and takes a shot that bounces off of Ward's back, but somehow it doesn't go into the net.
8:38 PM: The second period begins. The Pens are still on the power play.
8:20 PM: The first period concludes. Shots favored Carolina, 14-12, in the period.
8:19 PM: LaRose goes to the box for tripping Orpik.
8:18 PM: Fedotenko gloves the puck down, then turns and shoots it just wide of the net. It was a pretty sweet play even though he didn't score.
8:16 PM: Eaton makes one final clearing of the puck and Kunitz is out of the box.
8:15 PM: J. Staal earns a short-handed attempt but Ward prevents him.
8:14 PM: Scuderi makes a great diving block to prevent a Carolina shot from the near circle.
8:13 PM: Kunitz earns the first penalty of the game for high sticking and the Pens go on the penalty kill.
8:10 PM: Orpik holds Cole off of the puck and then dishes it out of the Pens' zone with a great defensive play.
8:07 PM: Guerin scoops up the puck in the Pens' zone and skates it to the other end. Nothing comes of the takeaway, but it was a great effort by No. 13.
8:04 PM: The Canes net their first lead of the game. Seidenberg shoots the puck from the far point and it flies past heavy traffic and into the back of the net.
Hurricanes 3, Penguins 2.
7:59 PM: Well, that lead didn't last very long... the Hurricanes net a goal at the other end. There was a scramble in front of the net and Jokinen managed to power the puck into the net for the goal.
Penguins 2, Hurricanes 2.
7:57 PM: Kennedy makes a quick move behind the net to put a shot on goal that Ward blocks but Malkin scoops into the back of the net for a goal and the Pens take the lead.

7:52 PM: Crosby takes a shift on the fourth line with Adams and Satan. Their line is matched up against Cole, who is back in action after sustaining an injury during Game 1.
7:50 PM: Staal (Jordan this time), Cooke and Kennedy manage a few shots on goal during their shift it looks like they are gelling well together.
7:46 PM: Eric Staal turns and shoots a puck that Fleury blocks but LaRose is there to bat in the rebound and just like that the game is tied at 1-1.

7:43 PM: Kunitz sets up Crosby with a pass after skating around the net. Crosby finishes the play by batting the puck past Ward to help the Pens take an early lead in the game.

7:42 PM: Fleury bats away a shot that Walker shoots through the crease.
7:41 PM: Scuderi flings a loose puck out of the crease.
