The Pittsburgh Penguins will hold the first of four special Student Rush Nights on Thursday when the Pens take on the Carolina Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. at Mellon Arena.
The Penguins have reserved 600 tickets exclusively for college and high school students for Thursday night’s game. Student Rush tickets are only $20 cash with a valid student ID. They go on sale one hour before game time at the Mellon Arena Gate 8 Box Office, and the traditional Student Rush line will form along Mario Lemieux Place. There is a limit of one ticket per student ID.
“Student Rush is a Penguins’ tradition, and it is important for us to continue to reach out to our young fan base,” said team president David Morehouse. “We have sold out 71 games in a row, and our advance sales are strong, so Student Rush ticket availability is limited on a game-by-game basis during the season. But we chose these four games, starting with Thursday against Carolina, to reserve a block of tickets for the students to enjoy Penguins hockey en masse.”
Other special Student Rush Nights during the season will be Nov. 13 vs. Philadelphia, Jan. 20 vs. Carolina and March 20 vs. Los Angeles.
Students also are able to sign up for Student Rush text alerts to learn about ticket availability on a game-by-game basis during the season. For more information on the student text program, click here

All fans attending Thursday’s game will receive a Highmark Penguins team calendar.
