Once again the Pittsburgh Penguins will work with the United States Marine Corps to provide local children with some holiday cheer. Fans can donate toys or cash for the Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program before two home games this December at CONSOL Energy Center. Fans that make a donation will be eligible to win Penguins’ autographed memorabilia.
During the Monday, December 5 game versus the Boston Bruins and Tuesday, December 13 game versus the Detroit Red Wings, fans are asked to donate new, unwrapped toys. Monetary donations can also be made to benefit local children and will be used by Toys for Tots representatives to purchase additional toys. Donations will be accepted at the American Eagle Gate, Trib Total Media Gate and Verizon Gate from the time gates open until 10-minutes into the 1st period.
This will be the 19th season that the Penguins have hosted a toy collection to help those in need. The toys and monetary donations are given to local, underprivileged children to help brighten their holiday season. The mission of Toys for Tots is to unite communities to provide hope to less fortunate children and play a role in their development into responsible, patriotic citizens.
