by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Penguins will collect monetary donations to support the earthquake relief effort in Haiti on Thursday, January 21 before their 7:30 p.m. game with the Washington Capitals at Mellon Arena.

All money collected will be donated to the American Red Cross and designated for the Haiti Relief and Development Fund.  Assistance provided by the American Red Cross may include sending relief supplies, mobilizing relief workers and providing financial resources and recovery to the people affected by this catastrophe.

Pittsburgh Penguins employees and members of the Penguins Booster Club will be collecting donations at Gates 1, 3 and 10 before Thursday’s game.

Fans not attending Thursday night’s game are encouraged to donate to the American Red Cross by visiting or by texting the word HAITI to 90999 to give $10.  The $10 donation will appear on your next mobile bill and 100% of the donation will go to Red Cross to help those affected by this natural disaster.
