The Pittsburgh Penguins are continuing their rapid social media growth on all platforms, recently passing 1.25 million followers combined on Facebook and Twitter, 100,000 on the Pens Mobile Club and 30,000 on the unique Student Rush text program.
Those numbers – in addition to surpassing 350,000 downloads on the Pens Mobile App -- underscore the Penguins’ status as a franchise directly engaging and connecting to its fans.
“We know that our fan base trends younger and is very tech-savvy, and our goal is to engage them as much as possible on all these platforms – something as specific as Student Rush and something as widespread as Facebook,” said David Peart, Penguins Senior VP of Sales and Service. “We take pride in connecting directly with our fans and will continue to grow these programs and take advantage of the latest interactive technology.”
The Penguins currently have 170,177 Twitter followers – more than any other U.S.-based NHL team and ranking among the leaders of all North American pro franchises. The Penguins have more Twitter followers than 27 Major League Baseball teams, 24 NFL teams and 24 NBA teams.
The Penguins’ Facebook page

Another valuable platform, the team’s website at www.pittsburghpenguins.com
