The Pens held practice on Wednesday afternoon before embarking on their annual 'Dads' Trip.' The fathers of the players and staff will accompany the team on their 2-game road trip to Colorado and Arizona (stay tuned for plenty of coverage on that later).
Here's what you need to know from practice…
*Pens defenseman Kris Letang was given a maintenance day and did not participate in practice.
*Injured center Evgeni Malkin (lower-body, 5 games missed) skated again with the team. Though he was wearing a grey "no-contact" jersey, Malkin did a little bumping during practice.
"He had limited contact," head coach Mike Sullivan said of Malkin, who will join the team on the 2-game road trip. "It wasn't full contact, but it was limited. We're trying to slowly introduce him into some of the battles to make sure we give him the best chance to recover the right way."
"He's making progress. That's encouraging."
*Winger Carl Hagelin (concussion) skated this morning with skills coach Ty Hennes.
"(Hagelin is) still status quo," Sullivan said. "I haven't gotten the report yet on how he did (this morning)."
Hagelin will not join the team immediately for the road trip, though could join them later at some point if his status were to change.
