PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Michel Ouellet from their AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and assigned forwards Lasse Pirjeta and Maxime Talbot to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, it was announced today by General Manager Craig Patrick.
Ouellet, 23, has appeared 19 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 30 points (10+20) and 12 penalty minutes with a plus-12 rating. Ouellet is tied for sixth in the AHL in scoring, tied for fifth in assists and tied for fifth in plus/minus.
Ouellet leads the team in scoring and assists, ranks second in goals and ranks second with six power-play goals.
The 6-0 and 202-pound native of Rimouski, Quebec appeared in three games this season with Pittsburgh, going scoreless. Ouellet was drafted by the Penguins in the fourth round (124th overall) of the 2000 Entry Draft.
Pirjeta, 31, has recorded seven points (4+3) and 18 penalty minutes in 25 games this season with the Penguins.
The 6-4 and 225-pound native of Oulu, Finland was acquired by the Penguins from Columbus in exchange for Brian Holzinger on March 9, 2004. He has appeared in 38 games with the Penguins, recording 19 points (10+9) and 18 penalty minutes.
Talbot, 21, has appeared in 31 games this season with the Penguins, scoring four goals and recording 17 penalty minutes.
The 5-11 185-pound native of Lemoyne, Quebec was drafted by the Penguins in the eighth round (234th overall) of the 2002 Entry Draft.
