Pens Prospect Harrington Advances to Memorial Cup Final

by Michelle Crechiolo / Pittsburgh Penguins
Penguins prospect Scott Harrington and Ontario Hockey League champions London Knights have advanced to the MasterCard Memorial Cup Championship Final. The game is set for Sunday, May 27 at 7 p.m. It will be broadcast live on the NHL Network.

London will face host team Shawinigan Cataractes in the contest, who defeated defending CHL champions Saint John, 7-4, in the semifinals on Friday. Shawinigan is just the third team to win a semifinal matchup after competing in a tiebreaker game.

This will be the Knights’ second appearance in the tournament championship game. The last time London advanced to the final in 2005, they defeated now-Penguins captain Sidney Crosby and Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) to win the Canadian Hockey League championship for the first time in franchise history.

Harrington, Pittsburgh’s second-round pick (54th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft, ranks fifth among defensemen with three points (3A) in three games played in the tournament.
