Penguins prospect forward Josh Archibald was named National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) offensive player of the week after recording three goals and four points in two games for the University of Nebraska-Omaha last weekend.
Archibald, who ranks third in the nation with 14 goals, tallied twice in Friday night’s loss to New Hampshire. The junior forward followed that up with a pair of points (1G-1A) in the rematch the following night.
Pittsburgh’s sixth round (174th overall) draft pick in the 2011 NHL Draft, Archibald leads the NCHC Conference in goals, while his 21 points place fourth.
This marks the second time this season that Archibald has been honored as NCHC offensive player of the week. He first received the honor the last week of October when he registered the game-winning goal in back-to-back games for the Mavericks.
