PENS WIN!! With under a minute left in overtime, Jordan Leopold picks up his second overtime game-winning goal of the season. Malkin, stationed at the top of the zone, makes a pass to the defenseman in the far circle, where he sends a wrist shot past Roloson to clinch the victory. Penguins 6, Islanders 5.

Crosby steps foot on the ice in hopes of obtaining his 52nd goal of the season, as well as his fourth hat trick of the season.


- Crosby and Malkin led the Penguins in shots on goal once again in the third period with a combined 12 shots of the team's total 34.
- Pittsburgh recorded 10 more faceoff wins than New York, 44-34.

Here comes overtime as the Penguins and Islanders finish up the third period with five goals each.

John Tavares ties up the game for the Islanders after receiving a pass from Kyle Okposo and sending the puck past Johnson at the crease. Penguins 5, Islanders 5.

Despite Tangradi's attempt to score from the crease, the Islanders kill off their interference penalty, and the game returns to full strength.

Just as the Islanders kill off their holding penalty, the Penguins receive another power play opportunity after New York defenseman Jack Hillen picks up a two-minute penalty for interference.

11:05: The Penguins go on another power play after New York defenseman Bruno Gervais picks up a two-minute holding penalty.

Tangradi makes a quick shot on goal from the near circle, only to be saved as Roloson tucks the puck into his logo.

The Islanders pick up one more goal just moments after Okposo's marker when winger Jon Sim slips another puck past Johnson at the crease, edging his team closer to the tie. Penguins 5, Islanders 4.

New York alternate captain Kyle Okposo notches the Islanders' third goal of the game after receiving a pass in the far circle and sending the puck past Johnson's right arm. Penguins 5, Islanders 3.

The Penguins are back at full strength as Dupuis comes out of the box.

20:00: The final period of the game commences with Jordan Staal at the center.


- Crosby and Malkin accounted for almost half of the team's 21 shots on goal throughout the period, recording five shots each.
- Wilkes-Barre/Scranton recall Eric Tangradi recorded three of the team's eight hits.
- Together, Crosby and Staal won 21 of the team's 32 faceoff wins.

0:00: The second period buzzer sounds, and the Penguins have managed to maintain their lead in the game, 5-2.

0:31: Dupuis receives a two-minute hooking penalty, giving the Islanders their 11th power-play opportunity of the game.

1:00: The Islanders successfully kill off their penalty.

After New York winger Jon Sim fires a shot that hits off of Johnson's mask, Islanders forward Micheal Haley is escorted off of the ice due to an injury. Pittsburgh also goes on the man advantage when New York winger Jeff Tambellini goes to the box for a two-minute goaltender interference penalty.

5:03: The Islanders try to pick up another goal in the game, but Johnson quickly shuts them down. New York winger Matt Moulson makes a pass to Kyle Okposo in the slot, who fires a shot on net - but to no avail.

8:45: And Pittsburgh gets ANOTHER goal as Malkin notches his second tally of the game on the power play! After skating to the near circle, Crosby passes the puck to Malkin at the far circle, who one-times the black dot past Roloson. Now, Crosby and Malkin both have chances to pick up more hat tricks before the closing of the regular season. Crosby also grabs his fifth point of the game, tying Washington's Alex Ovechkin with 109 points in the season. Penguins 5, Islanders 2.

9:19: It's the Penguins turn to grab a power play now after New York forward Micheal Haley picks up a two-minute interference penalty.

The Penguins successfully kill off each of their penalties.

Pittsburgh kills off the first leg of the four-minute double-minor penalty.

16:43: For the second straight game, Eric Godard drops his gloves against his opponent. This time, he squares off against New York forward Joel Rechlicz. The game turns to four-on-four play after Godard and Rechlicz both go to the box for fighting. Malkin later receives a two-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, as well as an additional two minutes for goaltender interference.

After Pascal Dupuis and Crosby both pick up penalties for cross-checking, New York defenseman Mark Streit takes advantage of the power play and sends the puck past Johnson from the point to put another tally on the scoreboard in the Islanders' favor. Penguins 4, Islanders 2.

Sidney Crosby wastes no time in picking up his 51st goal of the season! Maxime Talbot passes the puck to the 22-year-old captain in the neutral zone. Crosby then skates over the blue line and sends the puck under the glove of Roloson to maintain the Penguins lead and grab his fourth point of the game. Penguins 4, Islanders 1.

20:00: The Penguins start the period killing off the remainder of their penalty.


- The Penguins outshot the Islanders in the first period, 12-10.
- Crosby had a game-high four shots in the period.
- Jay McKee recorded two of the team's five hits.

The first period comes to an end with the Penguins leading their final game of the regular season, 3-1.

0:40: John Tavares takes advantage of New York's power play as he notches the Islanders' first goal of the game, as well as the 19-year-old forward's first tally against the Penguins in his career. Penguins 3, Islanders 1.

1:00: Pittsburgh adds another man to the box after Kris Letang picks up a two-minute delay of game penalty, forcing the Penguins to go on five-on-three play.

The Penguins give the Islanders yet another power play in the game as Jordan Staal heads to the box for a two-minute cross-checking penalty.

CROSBY HITS 50!!! Malkin sends the puck to Crosby at the bottom of the far circle, where the Penguins captain snaps the puck past the Islanders goaltender Dwayne Roloson to pick up his third point of the game and 50th goal of the season. Penguins 3, Islanders 0.

4:03: So far in the game, the Penguins have 11 shots on goal, while the Islanders only have seven. The Penguins also kill their penalty and return to full strength.

5:22: New York successfully kills their penalty and picks up another power play after Bill Guerin goes to the box for a two-minute interference penalty.

6:13: Crosby tumbles onto the ice in a desperate effort to reach goal No. 50 at the crease after Goligoski sends him the puck from the top of the zone. The Penguins kill their penalty and are now on the power play.

7:25: The Penguins and Islanders now face four-on-four play after the New York defenseman Mark Streit receives a two-minute penalty for interference.

New York picks up another power play after Jordan Staal goes to the box for a two-minute hooking penalty.

The Islanders successfully kill off their penalty as Eric Tangradi steps onto the ice alongside Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy.

10:52: Pittsburgh picks up their first power play of the game after the New York left winger Trevor Gillies gets sent to the box for two minutes for interference.

The Penguins take a two-goal lead! Eric Godard picks up his first goal of the season at the crease after Crosby sends him a pass from the bottom of the far circle. Crosby gets his second assist of the game. Penguins 2, Islanders 0.

Mike Rupp drops his gloves with New York forward Joel Rechlicz, but the referees quickly break it up. The Penguins kill the Islanders' man-advantage.

15:46: Craig Adams goes to the box for a two-minute tripping penalty, forcing the Penguins to kill their first penalty of the game.

16:50: Pittsburgh picks up a quick lead after Alex Goligoski, stationed at the top of the zone, sends a pass to Evgeni Malkin at the crease, where the Russian superstar notches the first goal of the game and his seventh goal against the Islanders during this season alone. Crosby picks up the other assist. Penguins 1, Islanders 0.

20:00: Sidney Crosby starts the game as Pittsburgh's center, along with Pascal Dupuis and Evgeni Malkin as the wingers. Crosby hopes to pick up his 50th goal of the season tonight against the Islanders. He notched his first tally of the season on October 2 against the New York Rangers.


5:04: The Penguins have scratched Chris Kunitz, Matt Cooke and Brooks Orpik from the lineup. Brent Johnson will also be in goal for Pittsburgh.

5:00: The Penguins conclude the regular season in Long Island against New York. The Penguins recalled left winger Eric Tangradi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton earlier today, and he is expected to make his NHL debut.
