Pens Help Launch ‘Support Our Heroes’ Program Leading Up To Veterans Day on Nov. 11

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins are teaming up with partners ATI, McDonald’s and First Niagara Bank to raise money for the “Support Our Heroes” program leading up to Veterans Day on 11.11.11

All fans attending Thursday’s game between the Penguins and Montreal Canadiens at CONSOL Energy Center will receive a special ATI Zamboni Bank cutout. These unique Zamboni banks also will be distributed at local First Niagara Bank branches while supplies last.

Fans are encouraged to fill their ATI Zamboni Bank with money and stop by a local First Niagara Branch or CONSOL Energy Center to make their donation. Individual donations may also be made on-site. Donations will be collected from Oct. 20 through Veterans Day on Nov. 11, 2011.

As a “thank you” for this effort, McDonald’s is offering a free small McCafe Peppermint Mocha or Peppermint Hot Chocolate for your donation – at participating McDonald’s locations in Western Pennsylvania, Southeastern Ohio, Northern and Western West Virginia and Western Maryland.

In honor of Veterans’ Day, monies collected will go to “Support Our Heroes” via the Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Troop Appreciation, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh.

ATI and First Niagara Bank will match donations up to $25,000.
