Once again, the Pittsburgh Penguins Adult Fantasy Hockey Camp was a success.
Drawing participants from all over North America, more than 60 players took part in the two-day event. Former Penguins Dennis Owchar, John Cullen, Marc Bergevin and Phil Bourque also competed in the camp – with each split up onto four separate teams.
Campers participated in drills, a scrimmage and three games on the first day of action at the Ice Castle in Castle Shannon. On the second day, the campers attended a Penguins game at Mellon Arena and played the semifinal, consolation and championship contests on the same ice following the NHL game.
Led by Owchar, the Royals rolled to the Penguins Fantasy Camp championship. The team swept through the tournament with a 5-0 record. They outscored their opponents, 38-14. The Emperors, led by Cullen, finished second, while Bourque’s Chinstraps squad was third and Bergevin’s Rockhoppers finished fourth.
