Pens Face Leafs Without Crosby

Evgeni Malkin, Jordan Staal and newcomers Miroslav Satan, Ruslan Fedotenko and Matt Cooke will lead the Penguins against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a pre-season game tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Mellon Arena.

Sidney Crosby will sit out the game as a precaution because of a sore groin. Crosby skated with the team this morning and is expected to return to the lineup Friday when the Penguins play the Leafs in Toronto.

The Penguins lineup for tonight will include forwards Malkin, Staal, Satan, Fedotenko, Cooke, Petr Sykora, Pascal Dupuis, Jeff Taffe, Max Talbot, Paul Bissonnette, Tyler Kenndy and Connor James; defensemen Brooks Orpik, Kris Letang, Alex Goligoski, Hal Gill, Mark Eaton and Darryl Sydor; and goaltenders Dany Sabourin and John Curry.

Cooke will be making his first appearance in a Penguins uniform tonight, and Fedotenko will be appearing in his first home game. Both were free agent signees in the off-season.
