Pens Elite 18U Team Wins National Title

Eric Cooley and Jordan Timmons each had a goal and an assist to lead Pittsburgh Penguins Elite to a 3-0 victory over Culver Military Academy Monday in the USA Hockey 18U National Championship game at San Jose.

Connor Quinn scored the other goal and Chad Veltri stopped all 22 shots as Penguins Elite claimed its first national title.

Pittsburgh beat national powerhouse Shattuck St. Mary’s as well as teams from Cape Cod, North Jersey and host San Jose en route to the title.

Will Casey recorded two goals and Billy Harris added the other in a 3-2 win over Shattuck St. Mary’s in round-robin competition.

Timmons had a hat trick in a 7-3 romp over Cape Cod in the quarterfinals. Casey, Quinn, Nick Long and Austin Tonkovich all added goals in that victory.

Logan Stork scored in overtime as Pens Elite beat North Jersey, 2-1, in the national semifinals on Sunday. Luke Edgerton had the other goal.

Other members of the Pens Elite national championship 18U team are Aidan Quaglino, Jack Lipovich, Christian Louria, Daniel Bigley, Tyler Hudak, David Nee, Stephen Rex, Ian Houk-Graves, Alexander Crilley, Jasper Uricchio and Dustin Rinaldo.

Coaches are Michael Uricchio, Kevin Quinn, Aaron Spiegel and Matthew Madore.
