Northwood Realty and the Pittsburgh Penguins are teaming up to honor local youth hockey moms with the "Youth Hockey Mom of the Year" contest.
"Anyone who's ever played or coached youth hockey knows that it's the moms who make everything happen," said Terry Kalna, Senior Vice President of Sales and Broadcasting for the Penguins. "We're excited to join our friends at Northwood Realty in celebrating the efforts and achievements of our local hockey moms."
Nominate your favorite mom by submitting 300-word online essay on her behalf at www.pittsburghpenguins.com/hockeymoms.
Five monthly winners will be chosen between November and March. Each of the monthly winners will receive a bouquet of roses; four tickets to a Penguins home game; an on-ice scrimmage for her team during intermission; video board recognition during pack; and a $500 donation to the mother's team or organization.
The "Youth Hockey Mom of the Year" will be chosen from among the five monthly winners. She will receive on-ice recognition before the national anthem at the March 19 home game vs. Florida; a bouquet of roses; a customized Penguins jersey; a commemorative plaque; one party suite (40 tickets) for her team/organization; an on-ice scrimmage for her team; a Penguins prize pack; and a $1,000 donation to the mother's team or organization.
Northwood Realty, the Official REALTOR® of the Pittsburgh Penguins®, first initiated an award for hockey moms last year. The company's agents wanted to find a way to recognize their friends' and neighbors' dedication and support of youth hockey programs across the region. Northwood's partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins was a natural next step for continuing the award.
"Moms are special to us at Northwood. In fact, many of our most successful agents are moms," said Tom Hosack, president and CEO of Northwood Realty. "Moms involved in youth hockey exemplify the values that are so important to our company: passion, experience and integrity. These awards recognize and honor all that they do. We see it time and time again with our agents, and behind the scenes at the rink: Moms know how to make good things happen."
