The Pittsburgh Penguins are asking fans to help spread holiday cheer to children in need by taking part in the team’s 16th annual toy drive on Saturday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 29 at Mellon Arena.
“Our fans always have been extremely generous with toy and monetary donations, but the gifts will be even more meaningful this year because so many families are facing challenging economic times,” said James Santilli, the Penguins’ Vice President of Marketing. “We’ve decided to hold the toy drive at two games – Nov. 22 vs. Vancouver and Nov. 29 vs. New Jersey – so that more fans will have the opportunity to make this a happy holiday season for underprivileged children.”
Every fan who brings an unopened new toy or makes a cash donation at the two games will be eligible to win Penguins’ autographed memorabilia, including a grand prize Evgeni Malkin
-autographed framed print from Frameworth.
All toys and cash donations will be donated to the U.S Marine Corps’ “Toys for Tots” program for distribution to underprivileged families in the Pittsburgh area.
Donations will be collected at Mellon Arena Gates 1, 3 and 10. Gates open on Nov. 22 at 1 p.m. and on Nov. 29 at 6:30 p.m. Collections will continue at each game through the first 10 minutes of the first period.
