by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
Online applications are being accepted now for the Pittsburgh Penguins’ skating “Ice Crew” for the 2011-12 season.

The “Ice Crew” is a team of energetic girls and guys who skate, help clean the ice, interact with fans at CONSOL Energy Center and take part in other Penguins’ promotional activities. The group debuted last year – the Penguins’ first at the new arena.

“We’ll again be looking for individuals with energy, drive, athleticism and passion for the Penguins,” said Laura Spencer, the team’s Ice Crew coordinator.

Auditions will be held in late July and early August at Iceoplex at Southpointe and will include both interviews and skating sessions.

Applicants 18 and older with skating experience can find more information and the online application at www.pittsburghpenguins.com/icecrew.

Preliminary auditions for girls will be held Saturday, July 30 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and final auditions will be Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Preliminary auditions for guys will be held Sunday, July 31 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and final auditions will be Sunday, August 7 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Ice Crew is presented by Highmark.
