Penguins Team Up with the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife CenterTo Raise Funds and Awareness

by Staff Writer / Pittsburgh Penguins
This season, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center partnered to create a 2012 Penguins & Paws Charity Pet Calendar.

The calendar featured Penguins players in a casual setting away from the rink with their family pets or adoptable animals from the Animal Rescue League. The calendar was available for sale at the CONSOL Energy Center concourse, at PensGear retail locations and online from November to January.

The calendar raised over $68,000 for the Animal Rescue League & Wildlife Center, assisting a wonderful organization find homes for our four-legged friends as well as to rehabilitate wildlife.

The Penguins also held their first-ever Pet Supplies Collection presented by Walgreens prior to the January 31 home game against Toronto, collecting over 1,136 pet supply items and adding another $2,871 in cash donations to purchase supplies for the animals housed at the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center.

Penguins’ fans, each year surpassing their generosity from previous years, made the overwhelming success of these programs benefitting the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center a reality.

Fans who would like to make a donation to the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center can visit their wish list at http://www.animalrescue.org/donation-wishlist.
