The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed free agent forward Brian Gibbons to a two-year entry level contract, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Gibbons, who attended the Penguins development camp in 2010, just completed his fourth season of collegiate hockey with Boston College. He finished his senior campaign with 18 goals and 51 points in 39 games. Gibbons, an Eagles assistant captain, was named All-Hockey East second team and Hockey East All-Tournament Team.
Gibbons (5-foot-8, 165 pounds) has twice won the NCAA Division I ice hockey title during his Boston College career (2008, 2010). The Braintree, Massachusetts native played 160 career games with the Eagles, posting 56 goals, 108 assists and 160 points.
