The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed free agent defenseman Mark Eaton to a two-year contract, it was announced Monday by General Manager Ray Shero.
Eaton, 29, appeared in 69 games with the Nashville Predators in 2005-06, recording four points (3+1) and 44 penalty minutes. Eaton led all Predators in blocked shots with 170 and ranked fifth on the team in average ice time (19:43). Additionally, Eaton led all Predators and ranked seventh in the league in average short-handed ice time per game (5:22) on a team that ranked fifth in the league in penalty killing success.
The 6-2 and 212-pound native of Wilmington, Delaware has appeared in 313 career NHL games with Philadelphia and Nashville, recording 47 points (16+31) and 138 penalty minutes.
