The Penguins practiced at CONSOL Energy Center on Tuesday afternoon and were a little depleted on the backend.
Defensemen Kris Letang (ailment), Brooks Orpik (maintenance) and Robert Bortuzzo (maintenance) were absent. As was forward Tyler Pyatt, who suffered a lower-body injury on his first shift in Pittsburgh’s 2-1 overtime win against Ottawa Monday night.
Letang did not accompany the team to Buffalo and will miss his fourth consecutive game with an ailment when the Pens play the Sabres Wednesday night.
Pyatt will miss the Pens’ last two games before the Olympic break with his injury.
“He’ll be out for the next two games,” head coach Dan Bylsma said. “We should have more information on him, probably retuning to practice when we resume (practice) on the 19th.”
Forward Andrew Ebbett was re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League prior to practice.
