Fourth-line center Mike Zigomanis returned to practice and will likely play against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night at Mellon Arena at 7 p.m. Zigomanis missed practice on Friday but says he feels ready to go.

“I feel really good,” said Zigomanis, who is the only Penguins player to score a five-on-five goal in the last four games. “I had a good workout, got in the gym, got a bike ride in, skated (Saturday) morning. I’m good to go, ready to play.”

Zigomanis worked with wingers Eric Godard and Bill Thomas in the morning skate. If Thomas plays, it will be his first game at Mellon Arena as a Pittsburgh Penguin. Thomas first played at Mellon Arena on Dec. 3, 2007, as a member of the Phoenix Coyotes.

Matt Cooke missed his fourth straight practice and will not dress against Toronto.

> Although the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver are a long way away, Sidney Crosby is eager to suit up for Team Canada.

“It’s pretty early but I’d love to be a part of it,” Crosby said. “I think Canada is going to have some pretty amazing people to be a part of that group. It would definitely be an honor.”

There is a little added incentive for Crosby now that Steve Yzerman was named executive director of Team Canada.

“Steve Yzerman was always my hero growing up so it probably means a little bit more to be a part of that,” Crosby said.

If Crosby were to play for Canada – which is a given at this point – it would be his first Olympic experience. Crosby was past over in the 2006 games in Turin, Italy, by then executive director Wayne Gretzky.

> Toronto coach Ron Wilson uses the internet while behind the bench during games to get up-to-the-minute stats. Penguins head coach Michel Therrien was asked if he had considered using a similar technique.

“I’m not too familiar with those things,” he said. “Eventually I will I’m sure. It’s a fast game to play (for you) to start to check the internet. We only have one time out.”

> He said it: Michel Therrien on what he expects from Crosby and Evgeni Malkin:

“I’m expecting those guys to be leaders and they’ve got to lead the right way. This is what I’m expecting.”
