Penguins Report: Photo Journal (St. Paul)

by Sam Kasan / Pittsburgh Penguins

Rice Park was decorated for the holiday season and is located just a block away from the Xcel Energy Center. It provided a beautiful late-night scene.

Outside of the Convention Center is a memorial to Herb Brooks. The St. Paul native led the United States to Olympic gold in the 1980 "Miracle on Ice." Brooks also worked in the Penguins organization as a scout and head coach.

Outside of Rice Park was a small ice rink for people to use.

The Mall of America (technically in Bloomington and not St. Paul - but close enough) is the largest mall in the United States (in terms of floor spacing). Other than the normal mall characteristics (food court, footware, stores), the Mall of America also includes the Nickelodean Universe (an indoor amusement park), Lego Center, restaurants, mini golf and a movie theatre.

The mall even had a corner area sectioned off for skate boarders to thrash. Maybe one of those skaters will be the next Rodney Mullen.
