Slow news day. No idea what Mearsy will talk about in the Game Day Report. Click below to find out.

12:31 PM:
More from Craig Adams on his injury and tonight's game...

On how he’s feeling:
Yeah, I feel good. I think I am going to play tonight, hopefully. So it felt good.
On if taking Monday off helped him heal:
Yeah, I think so. A day’s rest and just kind of evaluate what’s going on. Like I said I felt good this morning then felt good on the ice. So I don’t see any reason why I can’t play tonight.
On if he has to wear a brace:
Yeah. Well, I’ve been wearing a brace for a while, so it’s no different.

On wanting to come back as soon as possible with all the injuries:
I think everybody wants to play all the time anyway. So sure, you feel a responsibility, but I think you want to contribute and you feel that responsibility whether you have a full lineup or not. Maybe it’s in the back of your mind, but I don’t really think at the end of the day it changes that much.
On the Penguins’ luck turning around:
I don’t know what’s going on with ‘Nealer’ (laughs), but he skated so that’s obviously a good sign. Hopefully we’ll have him back sooner rather than later.

Assist: Brittany Goncar

12:09 PM:
Here is a little bit of what Neal had to say to the media today in the locker room. For all the details on how Neal went from a "weeks" injury to playing in 3 days click here.

On his condition:
I’m good to go tonight. Obviously it wasn’t as worse as we thought, so we’re good to go and I felt all right in the morning skate.
On if his foot really is broken:
Yeah, it’s all right to go. Put it that way. Originally when we first saw the X-rays and everything, it looked worse. But after an MRI yesterday, it can’t get any worse. So I’m good to play on it.

Again, full story posted here.

11:59 AM:
Coach Bylsma had a few updates:

On Neal:
The first preliminary tests after the game indicated a fracture in his navicular area, a tough bone and tough place to heal. Further tests, an MRI done yesterday showed that what he had was a pre-existing condition. Possibly having done it as a small kid. It showed up as a crack on the X-Ray, but the MRI showed it is not a break. He does have a bone bruise and it’s a play as pain permits injury for James. That’s why we saw James Neal on the ice today.
Over time it will get better. He’s fine and able to go. He was pretty relieved to find out the news. With just a bone bruise, he should be healing as days go by.

On Martin:
Martin was not out there today. He’s still ill. He’s a game-time (decision) at this point in time. We’ll see how he is when he comes to the rink tonight. If he is not able to play we’ll have to recall a defenseman.

On Crosby:
I don’t have an update for you besides that he is exercising. What that is in terms of heart rate and activity is different on different days. That’s where Sid is at right now in his rehab.

On starting goalie:
Brent Johnson

11:19 AM:
Some great news from the locker room. Both Adams and Neal said they are good to go and ready to play in tonight's game against Ottawa. We'll wait for coach Dan Bylsma to confirm, but if nothing else it's at least a positive development on the injury front.

10:34 AM:
Pens lines at the morning skate...

(MacIntyre, Jeffrey, McDonald did not skate in lines)

Martin is not at the morning skate. The 5 defensemen rotated.

10:15 AM:
Pens forward James Neal is on the ice right now with the team. On Sunday coach Bylsma said that Neal suffered a broken foot and would miss "weeks, not days."

Adams, who was hurt in Sunday's practice, is on the ice for the morning skate. We'll get an update from coach on his status for the game.

10:00 AM:
The last event at the Pens Pond was held Sunday in a game between the Pittsburgh Fire Department and Firefighters from the Pittsburgh Metro Fools.

9:50 AM:
It's Tuesday so it's time for Bob Grove to give us a glimpse into Pens History. He looks back to New Year's Eve in 1978 at Detroit. I remember it well...wait, no I don't. I wasn't alive then. Take it away Grover...

9:40 AM:
As noted earlier, Ottawa is playing at a wicked level right now with an 8-1-2 mark in their past 11 games. Michelle Crechiolo tells you why they're playing so well and what to look for in tonight's matchup.

9:30 AM:
Good morning from CONSOL Energy Center! Tonight the Pens will battle the Ottawa Senators at 7pm. The Senators are red hot coming into the game, going 8-1-2 in their last 11 contests. For the Pens, they're looking to snap a 4-game losing streak. Although the team has played well over the stretch, they haven't gotten enough breaks to get some wins. They're looking to break through tonight for a much needed and deserved win.

For today's song, we'll kick off the game day with the Shins "Spilt Needles." Enjoy.
